On the way to the airport we continue to observe the extensive occupation of life, all in wooden houses and Vietnamese-like straw from the movies. Arale (Hnin) confirms that women in the country enjoy good rights, nothing to do with the Muslim world.
We travel with Air Mandalay on a plane !!!! DE HELICES !!!!, and not only that, it makes a stop in Bagan (which regional bus or train), 100 km from Mandalay. We do not understand anything, although the flight is quite comfortable and safe. It seems that we have succeeded with the company, the other national Myanmar Airways (which belongs to the government) is in such danger that the Australians banned their tourists from using it. It must be that they save 1 out of 10, hahaha.
Anyway ... we arrived in MANDALAY !!! Completely different from Yangon. The morning, on the way from the airport to the hotel, we take the opportunity to make a couple of stops in the Mahami Padoga and in some artisan workshops of Jade, marble, bronze and gold. The truth is that it's nice to see how they work ...
And we go to eat for the first time to a Occidental. We have not talked about meals, but as Mauxi's mother says, the standard of living is very low here. An example of today's food, we have jartao. We have eaten prawns, beef tenderloin, spaghetti, chicken with rice, soft drinks, vanilla milkshakes, tea and coffee for only 5.50 euros in exchange. We can't help but be surprised with the prices they have here.
In the afternoon we just saw Mandalay with visits to:
He fort and palace from Mandalay:
Kuthodaw Paya, 729 marble slabs, the largest book in the world:
Kyaukthaugyi Paya, an 8 m marble figure:
It was precisely on these afternoon visits, when we first saw children asking. These are tourist places, but until now we had not had great burdens (and now neither) but there they were, painted, with a tender face that made you want to give them something (but it is not due) ...
To finish the day we climb the hills, where we also have the hotel (which is impressive, an old colonial palace), with excellent views of the entire plateau, Mandalay and the rivers and lakes that surround the landscape.
On the top, and on the horizon we could observe a beautiful sunset.
And the family is going to kill us, but we went back in search of adventures for dinner ... It still hurts our guts to laugh. We decided to go down to town to have dinner and ask for something similar to a taxi and its built-in taxi driver. Something similar because ... !! MOTHER! We go down in a ... mmm ... "pot" in which we were under pressure, down the hill. We went to a place that was a joy for dinner (Green Elephant Restaurant), the most luxurious in the city seems to be, nor did we know. The taxi driver, ahem, is waiting for us to return to the hill. The photo is not wasted ...
To reassure families ... here people are friendly, nice and integrate with them quickly. You do not feel observed or different, although there are hardly any tourists, if any traveler. Do not be overwhelmed by asking, just in the most tourist places. You see happy people ... within your world and its dictatorship ... Anyway, we have much to interact yet ... !! Tomorrow!
